Umm, yeah...
Bill Weld is a Republican...elected Governor of Massachusetts in 1990 (I voted for him) and again, by the largest margin ever, in 1994 (I voted for him again).
He's a fiscal conservative and social moderate, a solid balance to the very Democratic Mass Legislature, while at the same time, the guy who would later tell Mitt Romney to knock it off after the Mass Supreme Court made gay marriage legal - and he chastised the whining Romney while he, Weld, was attending the wedding of a gay friend.
He's a good guy by every account and was a very good governor, from my perspective. His buddy/disciple Charlie Baker is now Governor, and so far, so good.
I, this infamous Democrat, have often called Weld my favorite politician. So when he talks, I listen.
He's talking again, and he didn't mince words (from the New York Times):
www.nytimes.com/...
"In his first interview since accepting an invitation to be the running mate of former Gov. Gary Johnson of New Mexico, Mr. Weld assailed Donald J. Trump over his call to round up and deport the 11 million immigrants in the country illegally.
“I can hear the glass crunching on Kristallnacht in the ghettos of Warsaw and Vienna when I hear that, honest,” Mr. Weld said Thursday."
Thank you, Mr. Weld, and I agree. Donald Trump is a fascist, a dangerous demagogic Narcissistic bully, who will oppress people for ratings, crush people under his thumb for dollars or power, and then simply shrug - because that is the only expression he can offer that even hints of empathy or remorse.
Think it can't happen here? Think again.
